Raw opal ring - Rough opal ring - Rough opal jewelry - Australian fire opal jewelry - Fire opal ring - Rough Australian opal ring

Genuine Australian opal ring electroformed in a thick layer of copper. This ring features 3 ultra fiery opals infused onto a copper band.
We have very limited quantities of these beautiful opals so when they're gone, they're gone!

Made to order rings may take up to 2 weeks to ship but we always try to ship within a week!

This ring was made using a 12+ hour metal forming process called electroforming, which forms a thick layer of copper onto an object. After the copper was formed around the stone, it was then sanded, given a darkened patina, and then sealed with a jeweler's wax.

The dark patina on this ring will gradually fade away with everyday wear and the bright shiny copper will shine through.

- Electroforming Process -
Electroforming is a metal forming process that forms a layer of copper onto a conductive surface. This method allows me to create beautiful pieces that highlight the natural qualities of each stone, keeping true to an entirely organic look and feel. Allowing the copper to form around the curvature of each gemstone makes each piece completely one of a kind.. A combination of alchemy and art!

- Care and Maintenance -
To maintain its finish, avoid prolonged exposure to water (swimming, shower...). Also avoid contact with harsh cleaners or tarnish removers. A natural oxidation of the copper will occur after repeated wear.

- Patinas -
I stain each piece of jewelry with a patina called "Liver of Sulfur", and then seal it with a jewelers wax. Copper naturally darkens over time, and there are many different color stains which you can apply to enhance its overall look. Patinas wear over time, and should you wish to freshen your piece, you can purchase Liver of Sulfur at local craft stores or online.

- Greening -
Some people green and others do not. Greening is simply the copper reacting to the air and your body's chemistry. Greening is not harmful and can be removed with non-gel toothpaste.
If you are concerned with greening, you can apply jeweler's Skin Guard (available in a brush-on form) to the ring band to aid in preventing greening (found on Amazon and various online sources)

Please let me know if you would like a custom order. I will be happy to made something one of a kind for you!
